As I was thinking that it was just about another book release, I find the note very interesting.
Everybody knows about these 2 post youngsters arrested by the USSS because they were plotting on killing and beheading black persons to finally assassinate Barack Obama himself.
These guys were members of the Supreme White Alliance (SWA), an organization that claims for white supremacy and intimately linked to the KKK & Nazi ideology.
Even if the plot was at his first steps, it’s just frightening to see that America still live on the past.
Anyway, these guys are featured in Anthony S. Karen book’s to be released. He is “the only photographer to gain access into these historically secretive organizations, and features photographs” says the press release.
Just click and you’ll discover what’s the daily life of a member of such organizations.
And by the way, the book will be available in April 2009 (Powerhouse Books)

En surfant sur la toile et en checkant certains de mes sites favoris*, je tombe sur ce site “Photo of the day”. Au début je pense à un site de photographe qui poste sa photo du jour, rien de fou… Seulement là, le gars a shooté une photo par jour pendant 18 ans! Du 31 mars 1979 au 25 Octobre 1997, sur son lit d’hôpital. En gros, l’album d’une vie tiré à partir d’un pola SX 70.
Bien sûr, on est pas là pour saisir la bonne lumière ni même avoir pour le bon cadre. Ce sont les instants qui comptent. La fonction même du Polaroid, l’instantanéité. Ce qui importe aussi, c’est de voir le monde évoluer sous l’oeil de ce photographe et comment un projet de post-ado, pensé à priori pour capter l’air du temps finit sur une tragédie, la mort du réalisateur lui-même.
Intriguant, fou, passionné. J’ai pas fini de regarder et j’arrive toujours pas à décrocher.

Ce mois-ci, ma sélection kiosque s’arrête sur le spécial de Martin Luther King Jr du Life Magazine. 40 ans après l’assassinat du leader et surtout 40 ans après une époque de lutte pour les noirs américains, les Etats Unis pourraient bien avoir un Président noir.
